The Chronicle Series comprises three traditional, paid for local newspapers, highly respected and well read by their readers. They cover a prosperous area of Cheshire and Staffordshire, bounded by Manchester, Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent.

Congleton borough’s towns, including Congleton, Sandbach, Alsager and Holmes Chapel, are situated in attractive countryside where the rolling Cheshire Plain meets the more dramatic Peak District, and as well as the local people, there is a substantial and growing number of affluent businessmen and women who work in the nearby conurbations but choose to live in the more rural area covered by the “Chronicle”.

It is an area no advertisers can afford to neglect and the “Chronicle” is the natural advertising medium.

Congleton Chronicle

The flagship title of the series, in the borough of Congleton, which covers an area of 80 square miles. Congleton Borough is a mix of attractive countryside, villages and market towns, with a healthy mix of industry and agriculture. The population of the borough is 90,000.

The borough has good economic growth, unemployment below the county average and a strong manufacturing base, with textiles an important and traditional industry, particularly in Congleton itself, but also with a growing number of computing and internet companies, as well as arable and dairy farming, sand quarrying, and, just over the borough boundary, leading edge pharmaceuticals.

Sandbach Chronicle

The historic market town of Sandbach is famed for its Crosses which stand in its cobbled Market Square and for its long tradition of constructing heavy vehicles. The town also has a long history of chemical manufacturing and both Sandbach and nearby Holmes Chapel are still home to major chemical manufacturers.

Biddulph Chronicle

Over the border in Staffordshire, Biddulph itself was traditionally centred on heavy industry, but there are also textiles, stone quarrying and hill farming. The picturesque Moorlands are a popular attraction for tourists.
