A village pub near Leek has been granted permission to play music and sell alcohol until 1am.
Ye Olde Star Inn at Star Bank, Cotton, applied for an extension to its alcohol licensing hours the hours it could provide entertainment.
The country pub also applied to stay open past 10.50pm on Good Friday and Christmas Day.
Two nearby residents, complained that the extension would lead to increased noise and nuisance.
One said: "The majority of the residents in close proximity are senior citizens, so to whom is this extended licence going to benefit?"
