It will take years of fund-raising to repair St Oswald's Church in Brereton after lead was stolen from the roof and if the money is not found, the building could be closed, a villager has warned.
Alistair Strang, of the Brereton Community Interest Group, is among residents appealing for help to return the centuries-old church back to its former glory.
The thieves struck just before Easter and are still at large.
Although the insurers will pay some of £145,00 repair cost, the overall amount is expected to rise.
