Biddulph appearance for Inspector Banks author

Biddulph Literary Society has landed a major coup by persuading one of the country's leading crime writers, Peter Robinson to launch his latest book on Saturday, 7th August, at the Victoria Centre, Biddulph. Peter Robinson is well known for his Inspector Banks series and he will do a reading from his new book "Bad boy", answer questions and sign books. A spokesman for the society enthused: "To land a person of the calibre of Peter Robinson, he, with Ian Rankin, is probably one of the most successful crime writers in the country and to get him to come to a small town like Biddulph to launch his new book is a major achievement. "Peter lives at the moment in Canada, although his Inspector Banks books are set in Yorkshire, where he used to live. We have been in contact with him and his publishers over the last two years and our perseverance finally paid off, hence the date on his next visit to the UK." Such is his popularity that in the autumn, ITV is producing a new drama on his series, the first being "Aftermath" featuring Stephen Tompkinson, as the eponymous inspector. Admission is £5, which is redeemable on the purchase of his latest work, which will be on sale.
The event has a 7 for 7.30pm start. Tickets and further information can be obtained form Craig Pickering on 01782 523277.
