A Certain Ratio.... ACR:Box
Back when the Review Corner were nobutt young ‘uns, A Certain Ratio (ACR) were the indie band the cool youths liked. Formed in 1977 in Greater Manchester by Peter Terrell (guitar, electronics) and Simon Topping (vocals, trumpet), they were different to the other bands knocking about at the time, throwing in funk (a lot of slap bass) as well as disco and Latin (the music, not the language). They signed to Factory Records in 1979 but never escaped the indie cool market, i.e. didn’t sell much. We were pleased when this monster 54-track compilation landed on our computer (their budget doesn’t stretch to physical review copies).
