Never heard of Charax Spasinou? Alexander The Great?
Among the war debris of modern-day Iraq lie the recently discovered remains of Charax Spasinou, Alexander’s last great city and on Wednesday, Congleton History Society welcomes archaeologist Dr Mary Shepperson who will present a talk entitled Old Stuff In Hot Places.
People can go along and find out about modern warfare and ancient history.
The meeting is in Congleton Library meeting room at 7.30pm and visitors are welcome at a charge of £3 — or become a member for £10 per year and have free admission to all monthly talks.
