Pie and peace
This year is the centenary of the end of the First World War. To commemorate the event, a Pie and Peace (Peas) Party will be taking place at The Village Church, Outclough Road, Brindley Ford, on Saturday from noon to 3pm.
Everyone is invited to join the party, with activities to suit all ages, including old fashioned games from the era, Punch and Judy, seaside cartoon photo stand, live music, sumo wrestling, bouncy castle and even an air raid shelter.
Ration books will be available to claim free activities and refreshments. Free pie and peas will be available for the early arrivals.
Jean Copeland, one of the organisers, said: “It would be great if people from the village and surrounding areas could join us to commemorate this important year.
“We would also like anyone who has/had a member in the armed forces to bring a photograph with them so that we can use it to create a peace display”.
