Mr FC Norwood
The funeral took place on 5th November of Mr Frederick “Fred” Norwood, of Congleton, who died peacefully on 10th October at Macclesfield District General Hospital, aged 98.
Mr Norwood was born in Hackney, London, but moved south at an early age. After starting work as a messenger lad with EMI, he moved on to engineering with the Gas Light and Coke company, where his interest in all things mechanical was encouraged.
He served with the RAF then on demob he moved to Chesterfield and joined the GPO as a motor mechanic.
He had lived in Congleton since 1994, when he and wife Olive had moved from Doncaster to be near their daughter, Mrs Gillian Bowler.
