Mr H Newton

The funeral took place on 21st January of Mr Harold Newton, who died at Royal Stoke University Hospital on 23rd December, aged 88.
He was the husband of Mrs Nellie Newton, of Brown Lees. The Rev Steve Dyson conducted the service at St Lawrence’s Church, Biddulph, where Linda Davis was the organist for the hymns The Lord’s My Shepherd and Love Divine. Adios Amigo by Jim Reeves was played on entering and on leaving the service.
Cremation followed at Carmountside Crematorium, where the hymn The Old Rugged Cross was sung. Stranger on the Shore by Acker Bilk was played on entering the service and Time to say Goodbye by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli played on exit.
Mourners from the house were: Mrs N Newton (widow), Mr and Mrs J and A Jones, Mr T Jones, Miss M Ecclestone, Mr A Austin, Mrs M Austin, Mr B Shaw, Mrs C Shaw.
Mourners at the church included: Mr and Mrs S Taylor, Mr and Mrs J Havlock, Miss K Shaw, Mrs J Kirkham, Mr D Ludlow, Mr and Mrs J and H Walker, Mr J Jones, Mrs A Jones, Mr T Jones, Miss M Eccleston, Mr S Austin, Mr T Austin, Mr N Williams, Mr S Jones, Miss M Jones, Mrs H Taylor, Mr and Mrs B Shaw, Mr and Mrs R Shaw, Mrs A Parkinson, Mrs T Foster, Mr and Mrs Shaw (rep Mr J Shaw), Mr and Mrs A Austin.
Mr and Mrs B Stanway (rep Mr D Stanway), Mr R Havlock (rep S Havlock and Mr and Mrs R Hooper), Mr and Mrs A Barlow (rep Mr M Barlow), Mr J Williams, Mr and Mrs R and N Bennion, Miss K Bennion, Mrs A Jones, Mr T Jones.
The bearers were Messrs J Jones, R Shaw, S Austin and T Austin (nephews).
Messrs John Garside and Son, of Cross Street, Biddulph, were the funeral furnishers.
