Mr J Shirley

The funeral service and cremation took place on Monday, 6th January, of Mr John Shirley, aged 87, who died while at Spring Bank Nursing Home on Wednesday, 11th December.
The Rev Dr Philip Lockett officiated the service at Carmountside Crematorium where Danny Boy by Eva Cassidy played softly on entering the chapel.
That’s Life by Frank Sinatra accompanied the cortege as it left the chapel.
Mourners were: Mrs I Shirley (widow), Mr J Shirley and Mr B Shirley (sons), Mrs C Shirley (daughter-in-law); Miss E Shirley, Miss N Shirley and Miss D Shirley (granddaughters); Mrs L McDonald (daughter), Mr B McDonald (son-in-law), Mr J McDonald (grandson), Mrs S Shirley (sister-in-law), Miss N Shirley (niece), Ms H Dean (granddaughter), Mr H Dean (great grandson), Mrs H Davies, Mr T Simcock (brother-in-law), Mrs M Simcock (sister-in-law).
Mourners who met at the chapel were: Mr and Mrs D and C Shirley (son and daughter-in-law), Mr and Mrs A and E Shirley (great grandson), Mr and Mrs A and J Abram, Mrs V Harding, Mrs L Howard, Mr M Astles, Mr B Astles, Mr P Howard, Ms J Hall, Mrs L Bailey, Mr and Mrs P and S McDonald, Mr N Bull, Mrs A Simcock-Bull, Mr P Simcock, Mrs R Simcock, Mr and Mrs Burton, Mr P Mansell (rep Mrs J Mansell), Ms L Mitchell (rep Mrs S Hassell and Springbank Nursing Home), Mr A Unwin.
The funeral arrangements were made by Dolven Funeral Services, Independent Family Funeral Directors, 31-33, Congleton Road, Biddulph, who also supplied the bearers.
