Mr JH Snelson
The funeral took place on Thursday, 7th March, of Mr John Hardy Snelson, aged 84, of Congleton, who died on 2nd February at Macclesfield District General Hospital.
Mr Snelson was born in Congleton in 1934. His family ran the corn mill at Brereton, where he lived for the first few years of his life before returning to Congleton.
He attended St Peter’s Junior School and Congleton Boys School.
He took an apprenticeship as a bricklayer before being drafted into the army to do national service in Berlin.
On his return to England he studied to become a consulting engineer, spending the rest of his working life as a partner at CF Mountain in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
