Mr WL Foden
The death occurred on 10th May in his 90th year of Mr William Louis (“Bill”) Foden, commercial vehicle manufacturer and industrialist (writes Allan Littlemore).
Mr Foden led the Sandbach truck manufacturer Foden’s up to its demise in 1980. He was the great grandson of Edwin Foden, the founder of the dynasty.
Mr Foden — “Bill” — was born in New South Wales, Australia, where the Foden family had emigrated in 1924 after purchasing a sheep farm of some 10,000 acres. This family home, called Minimbar, housed the total family of some 20 people.
