Mrs D Boon

The funeral took place on 29th January of Mrs Doreen Boon, of Congleton, who died on 28th December at Astbury Mere Care Home, aged 89.
Born in Leek, Mrs Boon was the widow of Mr Eric Boon. She married at 18 and together they built a successful haulage recycling business. They kept pigs, chickens and exotic birds.
Mrs Boon liked to walk to the shops in Congleton and frequented Deans, Rudi’s cake shop and Stewarts for jumpers, to name a few.
She had daughter Carole when she was 30, and two grandsons, Philip and Daniel, followed later whom she adored.
When Mrs Boon became poorly, she moved to Astbury Mere Care Home where she lived for nearly six years. During this time she received great care from all of the staff.
Mrs Boon is now reunited with her husband and the many dogs, cats and other animals they collected along the way.
The Rev Philip Lockett conducted the service and cremation at Macclesfield Crematorium where I Believe In You by Il Divo was played entering the crematorium. Unchained Melody by Il Divo was played during the service and Ave Maria, also by Il Divo, was played leaving the crematorium.
Mourners were: Mrs C Roney (daughter), Mr G Roney (son-in-law), Mr P Roney (grandson), Miss L Kim, Mr D Roney (grandson), Miss B Dainty, Mr A Bromley, Mrs S Bromley (niece, rep Mr S Bromley, Mrs A Bromley, Mr Andrew Bromley, Mr A Gibson and Mrs P Gibson), Mrs S Tristram (niece), Mr G Tristam.
Mourners who met at the crematorium included: Mr and Mrs JL Murray, Miss J Clark (Astbury Mere Care Home), Mrs Rohrmann (rep Mr G Rohrmann), Mrs L Cattermole.
Bearers were Messrs G, P and D Roney.
Messrs Alan Finneron Funeral Directors, of West Street, Congleton, were in charge of funeral arrangements.
