Mrs KG Hulse
The funeral took place on 30th January of Mrs Kathleen “Grace” Hulse, of Congleton, who died on 9th January, aged 96.
Mrs Hulse was born in Congleton in 1923 and lived all her life in the town until moving into Lawton Manor Care Home three years ago.
At various times she was a member of the congregation at Rood Lane Methodist Chapel and at St Peter’s Church, Congleton.
During her working life she was employed at Conlowe’s, Berisford’s and the cake shops of Rudi and Horace Goodwin.
She loved gardening and the countryside (walking and cycling around the country lanes in her earlier years and being taken on car trips later on). She still enjoyed being driven around the country lanes with the roof open when she was well into her 90s. She enjoyed family boating holidays on canals and the River Thames and latterly on specially adapted boats on day trips organised by Lawton Manor Care Home.
The Rev Lesley Murray conducted the service and interment at St Peter’s Church, Congleton, where the hymns Abide With Me and The Day Thou Gavest were sung.
Mourners were: Mr G Hulse (son), Mrs L Hulse (daughter-in-law), Dr D Hulse (grandson, rep Dr J Hulse granddaughter).
Mourners who met at the church included: Mrs A Davenport (rep Mr and Mrs P Fearn, Ashbourne and Mr and Mrs P Robinson), Mr and Mrs S Brocklehurst, Mrs E Maxwell, Mrs C Barratt and Mrs D Jones (Lawton Manor); Mr and Mrs R Drew, Mr and Mrs B Bailey, Mr and Mrs J Brocklehurst, Mrs F Magee, Mr B Hulse.
Messrs Alan Finneron Funeral Directors, of West Street, Congleton, were in charge of the funeral arrangements and provided bearers.
