21st festival was stylish success
Dear Sir, — Biddulph Festival turned 21 with some considerable style this year, didn’t it! As someone who is writing from the town next door, could I please offer huge thanks, appreciation and congratulations to everyone involved in making the festival the success that it was?
Highlights for us were the impressively floral High Street and surroundings, and all those inspiring open gardens – congratulations to Hilda Sheldon and her team and to all the gardeners for their hospitality, and for overcoming what were very challenging planting and growing conditions in this summer’s heat and dryness – and the fantastic series of Biddulph Up In Arms concerts.
We were lucky enough to be able to get to four out of the five gigs, beginning with the Local Live Showcase back in June and culminating with the superb Eileen Jewell at the town hall last Wednesday.
Congratulations to organiser Craig Pickering and his team for all their work. Craig promised at that first showcase event that we would be hearing world-class music throughout the series. He was not exaggerating. Well done again to everyone in Biddulph who took part in the planning, organisation and presenting of the Biddulph Festival, or who supported the festival events with their attendance. — Yours faithfully,
