A Simple Soul....4th July, 2019
FOOTY: I’ve continued to watch the Women’s World Cup and seen some very good games. One thing that struck me is that when assistance is needed following an injury, a large number of trainers, physios and whatever come onto the pitch. There can be four or five people, carrying loads of equipment, which may include the kitchen sink and a couple of stretchers. Most of the time all that is required is something in a spray can, which seems to cure all manner of ills; a quick squirt and the player is on the go again. Many of you of a certain age may recall when one bloke carrying a galvanised bucket containing a sponge and cold water was all that was required. Remember the half-time orange they used to dish out to the players? I wonder why my doctor doesn’t prescribe some of that spray to cure my bad back.
