A month’s worth of rain in 24 hours
Dear Sir, — Our weather pattern gets stranger each week; we had so much rain yesterday, apparently nearly a month’s worth in 24 hours. We are fortunate that we haven’t seen the likes of the floods in Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, sadly resulting in the loss of a lady’s life. This morning we were woken with bright sunshine and a bitterly cold day. It is to be hoped that the coming days bring no further rain and a little warmer.
The plague of blocked drains and deteriorating potholes is not helped by the rain, the leaves from the trees finding their way down the gulleys along with stones and grit. The rain unfortunately often undoes the repairs to potholes, and with freezing weather more than likely around the corner it’s not looking good.
