A safer and more direct connection
Dear Sir, — Further to the article “Petition organiser’s ‘delight’ after plans were thrown out” Chronicle 7th March), I noticed the planning officer’s reasons to refuse the large Houndings Park development in Sandbach, opposite Waitrose.
It would be “car dependent” and would not encourage “linked trips”, on foot and by bicycle.
It is therefore surprising that the officer has not suggested to open the proposed access on to Houndings Lane, which is currently only for emergency vehicles, to pedestrians and cyclists.
This would provide a shorter, safer and more direct connection to bus stops, three schools and three large sport clubs. — Yours faithfully,
