Agrees generally with cycling letter

Dear Sir, — I read the letter from Coun Suzie Akers Smith about the joys of cycling. 
In general I agree with almost everything she says. However I see she states that it is only advisory to dismount from your bike when on a footpath (which is true) but it is unlawful to pass or overtake a pedestrian when riding a bike on the footpath. I think that about covers it. — Yours faithfully,

(Unashamedly) not a cycling or walking champion of any kind.
Although I used to cycle ride from Cheadle Staffs (1954) to home after my shifts, some 26 miles without the benefit of cycle lanes or footpaths.
