Dear Sir, — At today’s meeting of Cheshire East Council, a range of proposals were put forward by the Labour group.
These included cancelling the proposed increase in car parking charges from April, funding to implement a fairer car parking charging regime, scrapping the hated “rubble tax” and providing relief from punitive business rates for new businesses.
The cost of the changes were to be met from savings in the proposed budget — these included a review of councillors’ allowances and special allowances, and reducing the exemption period from council tax on empty properties.
