Alsager leads way in backing buglife

Dear Sir, — Re our recent joint members’ item on pollinators, which was passed by Alsager Town Council (“Town could be buzzing with pollinator insects”, Chronicle, 7th March), we’re pleased to say that volunteer work has begun in earnest since then to prepare new pollinator beds across Alsager.
The annual value of pollination activity in the UK is estimated to be £691m, but of course the real contribution of insects to our world is in fact invaluable. 
Recent media stories have highlighted the dramatic fall in insect numbers globally and its potentially drastic implications for all life on Earth.
