Both parties had a majority to leave
Dear Sir, — Personally I think the local election results were down to local issues, rather than Brexit.
However, I do take issue with your interesting editorial on the subject. Halfway down the page you assert that most of the Labour Party and most Labour members wanted Remain. I looked up the results and found that when you factor in this uncertainty, (ie we can’t be sure exactly the figures for how each party’s seats voted) 62% of Conservative seats voted Leave, with 21% uncertain and 17% Remain. Labour’s seats, meanwhile, voted 56% Leave, 8% uncertain, and 36% Remain.
