Butterfly invasion is a rare delight

Dear Sir, — Biddulph In Bloom saw a invasion of colourful butterflies this weekend, as dozens of Painted Ladies arrived on their migration from north Africa and southern Europe.
While they are normally a scarce migrant, every decade or so, sees a huge eruption of migrating Painted Ladies, as several generations of them move north through spring and summer.
As the temperature rose, they joined many other common local species in the parks, gardens and verges of Biddulph and Congleton. — Yours faithfully,
MICK SWAY
