Call for treason law to be updated
Dear Sir, — I was somewhat amused to see that in the Daily Telegraph, there was a call for the UK laws on treason to be updated so that militant Islamists could be charged.
In June 2010, I asked Fiona Bruce MP to pose this very question to our Government, specifically lord chancellor Ken Clarke QC and I was sent a response signed by Crispin Blunt MP saying it was basically too difficult and unnecessary.
I later forwarded this correspondence to UKIP in 2017, hoping that Paul Nuttall MEP might promote the idea in the party’s manifesto, but to no avail.
