‘Careless drivers’ is spot on description

Dear Sir, — Re your story “Biggest killers on our roads: careless drivers”, police drivers are tested to go out into the roads. Merseyside police have had several crashes going to emergency events, and never get there, so another vehicle has to go while the crash vehicles are dealt with.
Last week I was in the hospital, waiting for a car to get away and leave me a space for me. While waiting, a car bumped into my new car (only 100 miles on the road).
It was not badly damaged, but it is annoying when you are stationary and bumped by another car.
I have been driving since 1952, and never had a crash. — Yours faithfully,
GEOFF HILLYARD
Sandbach.
