Council must come clean
Dear Sir, — What a pity that Coun Paul Bates in his letter to the Chronicle last week didn’t take the opportunity to state in unequivocal terms the real issue — whether with regard to the circumstances of his bankruptcy:
a) he had misled the leader of Cheshire East; and
b) the leader misled the council about his company paying all monies owing to Trafford Council.
To be fair, I have every sympathy with anyone working for a company that becomes bankrupt through economic circumstances beyond their control and the loss of livelihood that entails.
