Council tax rise for social care unclear
Dear Sir, — Following recent letters in the Chronicle about council tax, the bills for 2019/20 do include an amount of 2.99% for adult social care, but, like many things from Cheshire East Council, ambiguity reigns supreme.
I seem to remember that the adult social care line on bills was introduced in 2016/17, when Cheshire East borough council put a separate account line on its bills using 2% of the main Cheshire East borough council cost. For a band C property this was £21.62, and the Cheshire East Council portion was £1,100.11.
