Decision to leave ignored since 2016
Dear Sir, — As memory serves me, it may seem hard to imagine, at a time when the business of getting out of the EU dominates the headlines, but back in the 1960s you could hardly pick up a newspaper without finding a story about the UK’s desperate efforts to get in. Perhaps I should refer to this as “Brexin”.
In the early 1960s, while the Conservatives were in power and Ted Heath was regarded as being a passionate Europhile, our efforts were not greeted with any favour at all.
