Déjà vu now local elections approach
Dear Sir, — Do readers share a sense of deja vu with regards the upcoming local elections?
In 1997, a pro-European Tory PM John Major was sure that the disastrous local elections were just a blip and that the Party would beat Labour in a general election.
The Conservatives were then thrown out of power for decades because of Major’s incompetence but he had the consolation of jetting off to become a millionaire at the Carlyle Group Hedge Fund.
Today, both Major and Blair appear on mainstream media almost every day telling us we should revoke Article 50 and stay in the EU.
