In the final week of election pledges (a series that probably surprised me as much as readers) we turn to the Tories, who are at a distinctive disadvantage, and The Green Party. (To repeat: these are policies for local government each party would introduce in power, but it gives you an idea of general policy).
The Tory disadvantage is that it’s one thing to talk in a manifesto about restoring democracy to the people, giving local councils accountability and more powers to raise revenue blah blah blah, quite another to be the party that’s just increased parking fees.
