Ofsted reports are (to use some journalistic licence, other things as bad) the bane of a local reporter’s life.
When they’re good, the school wants maximum publicity; bad, no-one wants it reported.
If we report a good one with less enthusiasm than a joyous football crowd after a 6-0 win at Wembley we’re letting down the community. If we report a bad one in any form, we’re letting down the community.
As a letter from a school pointed out last week, Ofsted changes its standards, so reports produced after a change in standards should be written to take account of that.
