Explanation differs from bill figures
Dear Sir, — Can I thank Paul D Bates for his letter in last week’s Chronicle giving an expert and detailed explanation of the Cheshire East Council tax bill, which has just dropped through every residents’ letterbox.
As the supposedly financial expert for the council, although he has no title before and after his name in the letter this time, it does not make any difference.
Perhaps he could advise me as an expert why his explanation differs from the actual figures printed on the bill.
The letter states: “The council tax rises by 1.99% for Cheshire East with an additional 1% for children’s social care.”
