Knyp Run weather was almost perfect

Dear Sir, — We would be grateful if, through the means of your columns, we could thank everyone involved in the Knype Run.
This has become an annual event in the calendar of Biddulph Running Club and this year proceeds of the event are to be given to our charities. Although Storm Denis threatened to scupper the event, the weather on Sunday morning was almost perfect for running. In spite of the cross-country part of the event being very wet and slippery, the run was a great success.
Almost 190 entered the main race and 37 children took part in the one-mile fun run prior to the main race.
We would particularly like to thank Graham Fisher and the committee for their hard work in organising a slick and well run event; race director Dawn Addison Moss for ensuring the event’s smooth execution; the marshals and race officials, without whom the race could not take place; the cake makers who provided a great treat after the event; John Robinson our town crier for his excellent proclamation; Hollinshead’s for providing coaches to ferry people in from Biddulph; Povey’s for their generous gift of oatcakes; Roy Beech Civil Engineering Contractors for providing the toilet facilities and last of all the entrants who gave their best on what turned out to be a tough course following all the recent rain.
It was a great event in a beautiful setting. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and support. —Yours faithfully,

Mayor and Mayoress of Biddulph.
