Dear Sir, — It’s a tough call, there are so many candidates. In recent times Tory prime ministers have been vying for the unenviable position of worst-ever PM — from Macmillan’s desperate attempts to maintain the gold standard, which had serious repercussions for our manufacturing industries through the 60s and 70s, to Thatcher’s brilliance in selling us something we already owned and causing more devastation in the north than William the Conqueror ever managed with his Harrying of the North campaign, through to the snouts in the trough Major years, or “Oops I didn’t expect that — I’m off” Cameron.
