Netting of hedges should be illegal
Dear Sir, — I was absolutely disgusted to see a hedge completely covered in netting in Chells Hill last week.
This horrific move has been taken in order to stop birds building nests and rearing their young.
The developer has chosen to steal the birds’ habitat before destroying the hedge.
The tightly pinned down plastic that totally surrounds the hedge will of course be a trap to any hedgehogs that may have been sleeping or hibernating. Also birds and other mammals can get trapped and killed by getting tangled up in the netting.
