Non-permitted items in graveyard
Dear Sir, — The churchyard at St Thomas’s Church, Mow Cop, has been a place of peace and reflection for over 150 years; a place where interments can be made respectfully and compassionately, on consecrated ground. We value the high numbers of folk who come to remember their loved ones, to say a prayer or two, maybe lay some flowers.
The church membership receives no funds for the upkeep of the churchyard apart from what people may donate and the statuary fees required by the Church of England. We do our best to look after the churchyard, but age and energy often defeat us.
