Number of council seats doesn’t tally
Dear Sir, — I have a friend who believes that life is too short to read a letter in the Chronicle if it is more than one column in length.
That seems to me quite a good rule and one which some of your correspondents would do well to observe (although I’ve no room to talk, having been guilty of that offence more than once).
My friend would have baulked at Stewart Green’s enormous letter in last week’s edition.
I was prepared to accord Mr Green the respect to read it in its entirety, but I’m afraid I failed. The letter started promisingly enough, but soon descended into an incoherent rant about parking fees and the mayoral Bentley. Or something.
