Others need to act on climate change
Dear Sir, — Looking at the world table of CO2 emissions it is apparent that the UK’s contribution is just shy of 1% of the world total. Laudable as our efforts are, and there still being room for us to further reduce our carbon contribution, is it not a bit like peeing in the ocean?
We could go carbon neutral tomorrow and it would make not one bit of difference to the climate. Only when the major players, China, India, the USA and Russia get their acts together will climate change significantly, and even then it would take a long, long time to be noticeable.
Not saying we should not continue to improve our figures but shouldn’t climate-change protesters take their efforts to the countries that are really causing the problems. Perhaps some crowd funding could raise enough cash for their travel arrangements. — Yours faithfully,
