Pacemaker letter was concerning
Dear Sir, — I was rather concerned to read the letter by “Pacemaker Patient” in last week’s Chronicle, in which the author catalogued his or her adverse experiences since undergoing initial implantation of a heart pacemaker device some 29 years ago.
My initial thought was that the writer had done well to still be with us some 29 years later, as such a procedure is not undertaken lightly and is usually undergone due to serious heart issues. On reflection I felt I was perhaps being rather unkind and I sympathise with the writer if the adverse experiences that were outlined have led to his/her current problems and predicament.
