Population shifts through the ages

Dear Sir, — A few weeks ago a local paper raised the idea of compulsory euthanasia as one of the possible solutions to the problems caused by global warming and consequent pressure on resources. 
Reduction in living space as the waters rise and as the areas rendered uninhabitable by heat expand would increase overcrowding, already intensified by lengthening life expectancies and soaring medical costs maintaining them.
