Re-think plea fell on deaf ears
Dear Sir, — Attempts to persuade Staffordshire County Council to rethink the withdrawal of its award-winning Staffordshire Youth Card fell on deaf ears at the council’s Corporate Review Scrutiny Committee on Thursday.
The Opposition leader at Staffordshire County Council, Labour’s Sue Woodward said: “This is not the time to be scrapping this award-winning discounted bus travel concession card. Young people have never been under such financial and emotional pressure. The numbers using the card may have declined but still over 10,850 rely on it to get to school and college as well as for leisure and sporting activities.
