Relieved that he is not able to preach

Dear Sir, — I read Fiona Bruce’s concerns about freedom of speech with regard to the cancelled visit of Franklin Graham.
As a fellow Evangelical Christian I understand Fiona’s comments but would like to express my own relief that Franklin will not be able to preach his message of anti-gay Christianity.
Many Christians have come to realise that scripture does not support the argument that homosexuality is a sin.
Just as in previous generations, scripture has been misinterpreted to assert that the Earth is flat, slavery is acceptable, and women are subordinate to men.
Many Christians will be glad that narrow, discriminatory, interpretations of the scripture are discouraged.
For those who continue to hold that view I would say “That is your opinion, and you are entitled to it, but not in my name”. —Yours faithfully,

ANNE JOYCE
