Residents entitled to a better service
Dear Sir, — On Thursday morning, I attended the Health and Adult Social Care and Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee at Westfields to hear the committee discuss East Cheshire NHS Trust’s report on the minor injuries unit at Congleton War Memorial Hospital.
The decision had been taken prior to the winter of 2018/19 by the East Cheshire NHS Trust, for the minor injuries unit to be closed at weekends but disappointingly, owing to staffing problems at Macclesfield, the decision had been made to extend the closure of the unit at weekends over the summer months as well.
However, East Cheshire NHS Trust’s intention is for the minor injuries unit to be open from 10am to 6pm every weekday. Yet, this report shockingly revealed that of the 260 weekdays from September 2018 to August 2019 inclusive, the minor injuries unit was closed for 67 of those days.
