Royal prefix was 71
Dear Sir, — I have just read Stewart Green’s excellent article on the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
I have to correct him on one item. We did not receive the royal prefix in 1925; it was actually May, 1971, when the announcement was made.
Other than that I must thank you for bringing the poppy appeal to the attention of all your readers.
All the poppy appeal organisers work tirelessly over the two weeks that we are granted to raise funds for the appeal.
My wife and I have been poppy appeal organisers for just over 30 years, and find great satisfaction in the work that we and our team do. So once again many thanks. — Yours faithfully,
Chairman and poppy appeal organiser
