Security of pitch tenure was agreed
Dear Sir, — I was secretary of Congleton Sports Council when Congleton Rugby Club came up with the idea of purchasing its present headquarters.
Many hours were spent negotiating with the North West Sports Council to try to get a grant to enable the purchase and improvements to take place and I was happy to see this through to a successful conclusion.
The sticking point was that the club could not be eligible for a grant unless it had security of tenure on the pitch.
This was eventually agreed by the-then Congleton Borough Council, so the club and Cheshire East should have copies of this agreement.
