Switch off engine while you wait

Dear Sir, — I cycled past The Quinta School on Thursday, 21st November at 2.55pm and I counted nine cars with drivers sat in them, with the engines running.
I know it was a cold day but this practice is polluting the air around the school and the neighbourhood.
Also, this behaviour is contributing to the extremes of weather we are witnessing with climate change.
Could I ask the people picking up to switch off their engines?
If they are cold, they could put on an extra jumper or better still, walk or cycle to pick up the children, as many conscientious parents and grandparents do. — Yours faithfully,

RAYMOND KING
