Time for a default 20mph speed limit

Dear Sir, — It’s time for Cheshire East Council to introduce a council-wide default 20mph speed limit.
The national speed limit was set at 30mph in 1934, without any Parliamentary research for evidence. There were only 1.5m motor vehicles on UK roads at that time. Today there are 34m motor vehicles in the UK.
It is time for Cheshire East Council to set a default 20mph speed limit, in place of the current 30mph default limit, on all village and urban roads in the council’s area.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has already done this, so what is Cheshire East Council waiting for?
20’s plenty for us. Let’s do it now. — Yours faithfully,
