Verges on criminal irresponsibility
Dear Sir, — I’m not a fan of Cheshire East Council, but I’ve always put its faults down to bumbling inefficiency, coupled with overworked staff struggling to implement policies with insufficient resources.
My faith in this belief was shaken recently at the public meeting concerning traffic calming measures on Padgbury Lane, as a consequence of the upcoming opening of the link road.
I challenged a representative of Cheshire East highways department that their intended preferred flow of traffic, past Congleton High School and The Quinta Primary, was somewhat irresponsible. The most probable flow would be along Padgbury Lane or through the Ullswater Road estate, a downright dangerous alternative, (both routes heavily used by schoolchildren). The answer given to me was that this area of the borough did not have a high traffic fatality index.
