Villagers form a new Speedwatch team
Dear Sir, — The residents of Wheelock have long been worried about the speed at which vehicles travel through the village.
Crossing the road can be a hugely worrying task and we were starting to think that someone would have to be killed before the council would do anything to help with traffic calming.
I approached our local PCSO, Scott Watson, and with his help we now have a fantastic team of community Speedwatchers.
We hope that with regular monitoring we can become a visible deterrent to speeding motorists and that those who break the law and risk our lives and those of our children will be made to think twice.
Is it worth risking lives and breaking the law to arrive at your destination one minute earlier? I don’t think it is. — Yours faithfully,
