Saturday, 9th May 1747:
About noon, I preached at Mr Anderton’s house near Northwich. We were then obliged to take horse to Astbury. Here I found an open door, though many of the fine people were of the congregation; but they beloved a people fearing God; as seriously as the poor ploughmen.
